In my mediation practice I often encounter couples who arrive at my office in different places emotionally. One of them is ready to end the marriage while the other is still hoping it can be saved. The problem this causes is that the spouse who wants the divorce sometimes becomes impatient and hires a lawyer to “get things moving” when he or she feels the other spouse is “dragging his/her feet”. Unfortunately, this often leads to a hurtful and costly legal battle between attorneys.

In this video I outline how a couple can prevent this from happening.

It is interesting for me to learn about divorce. My friend was telling me about some research she found that communication is an indicator of a healthy marriage or one that is falling. I really like the idea of learning how to communicate better.
